Privacy policy

Toucan Lamp ("we", "us") runs toucanlamp.com. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit the site or buy a lamp, and how we use it.
What we collect
- Order details: your name, email, phone number and shipping address, plus what you ordered.
- Payment: card payments are processed by Square. Your card number goes directly to Square and is never stored on our servers. We receive a confirmation that the payment succeeded.
- Messages: anything you send us by email or social media.
- Basic technical data: like any website, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) processes your IP address and browser information to deliver and protect the site.
- Anonymous visit counts: we count page views, where visits come from (for example Google or Instagram), and steps like adding to cart, using a random number that lasts only while your browser tab is open. These counts don't use cookies, and we don't store your IP address. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we don't count your visit.
- Advertising and analytics tools: we use the Meta Pixel. They set cookies and send Meta details about your visit (pages viewed, items added to the cart, purchases and device information) so we can measure and improve our ads and our website. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we don't load these tools. You can also manage ad preferences in your Meta account settings.
- Waitlist and email list: if you ask to be told when orders reopen, we keep your email address (and the colorway you were viewing) to send that one notice. If you also tick "occasional news" or subscribe in the footer, we may email you about new colorways and restocks. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
- Reviews: if you write a review, we publish your rating, review text and the name you choose (by default your first name and last initial) once we've read it.
How we use it
To make and ship your order, send order and shipping updates, answer your questions, prevent fraud, and meet legal and tax obligations. If you sign up for our email list, we will email you about new lamps and offers. You can unsubscribe at any time.
Who we share it with
Only with the service providers needed to run the shop: Square (payments), Cloudflare (website hosting), our shipping carriers and label provider (to deliver your order), our email provider, and Meta (advertising and analytics, as described above). We do not sell your personal information. When the Meta Pixel is active, Meta receives details of your visit as described above; Global Privacy Control in your browser opts you out.
How long we keep it
We keep order records as long as needed for fulfillment, warranty support and tax and accounting rules, then delete them.
Your choices and rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, subject to legal requirements. Email [email protected] and we will respond promptly.
Children
The shop is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
If we update this policy, we will post the new version here with a new date.
